This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 29, 2009:
If we define "luck" as the intuitive means of success on all levels; and we define "intuition" as a knowing that results from paying attention/being aware ... then yes, I have been blessed with good luck.
I guess you could say that I keep from being smashed on the rocks by paying attention to the Light.

Yes, thank Goodness. I imagine that you're off to work. Have yourself a fantastic day. I'll be at my home office IN MY PAJAMAS all day. From where I'm perched, I can watch the last of the leaves blow off the tree into the front yard – a great day for writing!

Reminds me of that commercial, the one where the big tough ship captain keeps telling the light house to move out of the way, that is until the humble watchmen explains that they are a light house, and that the captain is welcome to do as they choose.
I bet the person would even go down afterward no question asked and help rebuild the ship too, just like the light I see in you Laurie.

Several years ago, Lee Trivino, A.K.A. The Merry Mex, put an incredible backwards swing on a ball that was nestled up against a tree and hit it within a couple feet of the pin to save par and win a golf championship. In his post round interview, a commentator made reference to Lee's lucky shot to which the Merry Mex replied, “You know, it's funny; the more I practice, the luckier I get!”
I guess all you champions have something in common!
I got to go trick-or-treating at Lee Trevino's house in El Paso, Texas when I lived there many years ago; it was just at the time he was becoming a little bit famous but he was such a humble (and very smart) man. But here I am doing to Laurie what I have been preaching about for weeks: spreading the thread …
I think we create our own luck, just as Laurie (and Lee) allude to by being smart enough to follow our own lights and the lights of wisdom that get flashed in our direction; occasionally, someone has had to hit me with a few lightning bolts to make me see the light though …
Thursdays are my work-from-home-office-all-day-in-pajamas day – a glorious day! It's the day that's [almost] completely devoted to working on the website, writing holistic health and wellness articles and/or trying to find a literary agent for my manuscript. I'm supposed to 'behave' myself and try to refrain from peeking at Gaia. I'm not always successful. Today I was a bit more successful [not completely]. I received an email from an editor of a magazine that has never published me before. They are interested in using one of the articles I submitted (“The Health Benefits of Sex”) as their lead health article in February – the Valentine's edition. Whoohoo! However, I need to pare it down from 1,280 words to 900 words – without diminishing it. I can do this!
So my attention was elsewhere for a bit … I come back and WHOA! I've been visited by Sandi, Liza, Just Me, Bob and Barbara. Thank you each and every one.
Hi, Laurie, I've just come in from a good day at work, I did a lot of buying and will be going shopping for more tomorrow. We do the bulk of our buying at the trade show in Atlanta, in January, of all times! They want to get to us while the pain is still fresh, I suppose. I'm in the mood now, I can spend some one else's money with out a twinge. And all with out even getting out of my P.J.'s. No way, I'd be put up for observation. Oh, No,! I'm digressing from the thread! Barbara will know and put a knot in my tail!
I have a hard time believing in luck, for some reason I've never believed in rabbit's feet or lucky socks, If it helps someone feel more confident to believe, I have no problem with that either. Like Barbara mentioned, Lee Trevino got luckier the more he practiced. I do believe the old saying though, “Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.”
There is a challenge on my post for any woman that has what it takes to pick it up.
Oh my gosh, Sandi - I read your challenge before coming here. I'm still in hysterics with tears streaming down my cheeks. Len actually snorted with laughter when he got to the part about ”Big Girl Panties“ – yes, I do believe you did him in!
I hope for Len's sake it wasn't meatloaf night! Or red wine, those stains are hard to get out, they do lend a little ghoulish appearance while they are still running from nose and chin!
It was just plain old chicken and rice – but thankfully we'd already finished dinner because that wouldn't have felt too good coming out the nostrils at high speed in reverse.

This has been a good day and I'm going to quit and get ready to leave early in the morning. Just one thing, I wasn't kidding , you should at least wear some drawers, Scot or no, you'll be the scandal and talk of the neighborhood!

Cheyenne - Thank you for your visit. And while I don't get up at 2am like you (I read your profile page – goodness me!), I do get up at 4:20, so it's off to bed I go.
Do you? That's wonderful! Yes, I enjoy deeply the early morning for practice…and laughingly, most of my friends live in Europe! So I often wake them up!
