If you had to found a museum, what would it be about?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 30, 2009:
A museum of toys that were handcrafted before the days of mass production. Toys that were made by hand -- one at a time -- with a specific person in mind.

Why am I not surprised? Each toy filled to overflowing with the love of the crafter to the child. What precious gifts these were. Very few children are so blessed to receive such undivided attention these days, not with Wal-mart around the corner.
Sandi - Thank you for the early morning visit. Have yourself a GRAND day. Today is Friday so I'll be at HolEssence 'til the sheep come home.
I made some handmade cars with the Boy Scout Moms, it was so much fun to customize them. A wonderful memory…Thanks Laurie
Jeannie - I'm glad that brought a good memory to mind for you. When my son was little I tried to make him one of those sock monkeys. It didn't turn out very well (not at all like the store bought ones), but he loved it to pieces!
I love this idea … my favorite toy of my daugter, Bethany, was her Sylvanian family woodland animals dollhouse and furniture; even though it was mass manufactured, it reminded me of a time before mass production because it was so individualized and unique. I still have it and let my granddaughter play with it; I am with my granddaughter tonight and her favorite toy this evening are two little pumpkins we bought at the patch who are currently in the pumpkin spa getting manicures (i.e., they are soaking in two bowls of water). I am not sure I will ever buy this child a toy from the store again …
I've tried to make a sock monkey, too. Something just wasn't right, he just looked frightened instead of smiling.. They are so cute though, I might just try another one….no, I don't think so, that Scarecrow took a lot out me. I hope the only thing I'll be stuffing is a turkey.
Barbara, that is so sweet! I don't know what on a pumpkin get clipped, filed and painted, but in child's imagination anything is possible. I bought Joey, my grandson some old-fashioned wooden cars and painted them for his third Christmas, I think he actually played with them. I know I had fun with them.
