This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 31, 2009:
I wear many different hats (i.e., wife, mother, friend, healer, teacher, writer), but perhaps my favorite is learner. I am a student of purposeful living.
And who knows? The speed of my flight around the moon tonight may be so darned fast that it actually turns the clocks back an hour ...

Help

Ha! I got my Eureka upright tuned and ready … but I love the costume! And you are indeed a wonderful student, teacher, mentor, friend, and co-conspirator in this wonderful adventure we call life…
You are a star in my book. You play your roles so well.
Okay, Ladies, I've got new belts, a new bag, racing lights and a retractable cord on my Hoover that snaps like a bullwhip. When I said you'd be eating my stardust, I wasn't fooling around, you'll have so much of it in your eyes, you won't be able to SEE the Moon.
Barbara, I'm afraid you'll strip the gears right off the bat, I told you, I'd take you in the quarter and go the distance at top end. Oh, what are you wearing? I'm riding Western.
Laurie, nice hat, you wear it well. You are indeed all of the above. What I really appreciate about the Learner in you, is that I can always go to you with a question and you' usually have the answer.
I'm laughing hysterically! And as Len said, “At least she's not riding commando.”
Great costume! Oh not your costume the way you dress on your off time! Ha, ha…
Laurie you are all of those “titles” you say but most of you are Love… spreading faerie dust all over the planet…
Happy Sawain!
I am Love, Jeff
hehehe love it - great costume and love what you wrote.
“perhaps my favorite is learner. I am a student of purposeful living.”
Humility serves you well, hallowed one.
Hi Laurie,
Love the Garb! I'm with you on the purposeful living Laurie. Well said.
Have a Happy!
Liza
Bewitching!!!
So that is where my hat went! I've been trying to remember all morning what happened to it. Darn magic anywhere. I'm always mixing up the spells and weren't the toads were disgustingly small this year? Happy Halloween Laurie:)
Good luck with the time change! Terrill
Thanks for sharing a Halloweenie moment. Fly like the wind, and have a blast. Happy Halloween!
[cackle, cackle] …
Hello Barbara, Blewbird, Sandi, Jeff, Leigh-Anne, Gabriel, Liza, Jeannie, Terrill, and Nancy. Thank you for coming to my door and trick-or-treating today. Won't you step in for a while? [rubbing hands together, cackle, cackle]
No worries what your parents told you. I'm not a stranger [wicked gleam in eyes as the door shuts]. Oh that? It's just a cauldron. Step closer, won't you? [cackle, cackle]
Don't touch that [sharp, scolding voice] it's no regular broom. I may need it later for tidying up any stray bits [cackle, cackle]. Sit down at the table while I ladle a nice beverage for each of you.
[rubbing hands together] Feeling sleepy, are we? That right, just let your eyes close …
Barbara, don't touch that stuff in the cup!! First, now we know where all the toads went. Second, she means for us to sleep through the ride tonight! If we do make it and get airborne, we might get a DWF- Drowsy While Flying! I wouldn't trust those cookies with legs on them either, I saw one of them kicking.
Oh, Hi, Laurie! Oh, your house is so nice, just look at the spiderwebs! Did you do those yourself? No, Dear, I'll just pass on the cookies, they'll go straight to my kneecaps. No, thank you, that punch looks delicious, but I'm flying tonight and you just can't be too careful these days, right, Barbara? Barbara. Barbara! Wake up! Barbara! Been into the Screech a little early, I imagine.
Happy Halloween, Laurie! Enjoyed the blog and comments.
Commando? Commando!? A nice Methodist lady like me? In this weather?
HI Laurie,
Listen I need a brew for a cold. I dont care if it makes me sleepy, I probably need it anyway. Please no bugs you know how I feel about them…. Forget the flying on Samhain too. Too many WDWIOB (Witches Driving While Intoxicated on Broom.) Gosh I seen some really bad crashes too.
tsk tsk
Where's a cop when you need one? LOL
No I'll wait for a clear evening when its quiet. Tonight I'm hankering down under the covers with my husband, cats, dogs & TV remote. The faeries are hanging out too….just chillin:)
If I hear any thumps on the roof I'll be rolling my eyes and saying “Well Joe there goes another one…..gee I wish they'd would not drink and fly…nothing like the old timers NOW they knew good times ahhh but there are still a few of us left;)
I'm out the door with 2 dz. brownies to attend a small “Gathering” but will return in time for flight.
I'm out the door in full costume for a party, but will return in time to settle with the clocks …
… and two very old vacuums
Well … the costume part didn't quite work out. We'll call it a wardrobe malfunction. However, it was wonderful to get together with our friends. The meal was utterly delicious and the friendship was even better!
When we got home I worked the kinks out – turns out I had to winterize a bit. You know that somewhat enlarged, multi-layered blob you saw silhouetted against the face of the moon? That was me! It was tough to find fur lined elbow-length gloves, ear-muffs, leggings and Ugg boots to work with my planned outfit. I ended up looking more like Hagrid from Harry Potter. But it didn't slow me down one bit. I'm confident my tremendous speed will have spun the clocks back by at least one hour in the morning. Time will tell …
Sandi - how did flying in Western wear work out for you? Barbara – what did you wear? I never saw either one of you!
All this exhileration has me plum tuckered out. I'm going to have a cuppa bedtime tea soon and then go to sleep.
Good morning ladies – Well, would ya lookie there? All of the clocks have spun back an hour. Yessiree, Bob!
Good Morning! I drove home from our get-together in cold, pouring rain, so I dressed for the weather, camouflage insulated rain gear and boots, and still got cold! I had to floor it to break the cloud cover over the mountains and ran into a strong head wind at 3000' over N.Carolina and stayed on my N.E. bearings till I hit the coast off New Jersey. After breaking from atmospheric conditions, it was a quiet flight there and back. There was more traffic than I had hoped for. I say I didn't see you or Barbara but there were so many others I couldn't keep up with who was who. I just tried to stay in my lane of traffic and not do to much rubber-necking, too cold to hang around. I saw that mess where they crashed that stuff into the surface, what a shame. They need to send somebody up there to clean that up! Not wanting to be just another statistic, I headed back, beating my ETA by 3.5 minutes, not a personal best but good. A good, hot cup of green tea put me right again and I'd say it was a very successful flight.
Well good morning to you, Sandi! I'm glad you're no worse for the wear. That ride just plum tuckered me out. I'm supposed to clean the house today, but thinkin' maybe I'll just take a pass. I'm perched at my desk editing an article I've written for the February edition of Mindful Metropolis. And waiting for the question of the day on the EXTREMELY brisk, but sun shiney morning! Have yourself a FANTASTIC day!
Hey there, Laurie, it's gorgeous here today, pretty cool but bright. I have to go in to work at 12:00, I'm fine with that, got to break down the Hal. displays and convert. Red letter-day! I lit my heater today! There were times I didn't think I could make it but I lasted til November and can hold my head up with the best of 'em. Did it first thing this morning! Before coffee! It never got below 60 in my house and I can deal with that, but enough was enough. Go do something outside today for awhile, who knows how long this fine weather will last. Have a Big, Shiny Day yourself!
At some point today Len and I will have to deal with raking leaves and getting them ready for the compost bin – it's gonna be cold work, but Len will reward us with home baked cookies when we're done!
Our heater's on too …
it worked!! it worked!!! thanks for my extra hour of sleep last night!!
;-)
~dawn
Dawn - It was my distinct pleasure. I'm glad you got some extra shut-eye.
How did you airbrush the cool red contacts? The time … magic! I got more rest & had lots of time to just play & eat candy.
Kathy - I'm glad you enjoyed the extra hour – voila'! [the “red contacts” are a mishap of the camera] …
Good Morning, Laurie! I've been picking up pecans and now I'm cooking a dish to take to our Birthday Lunch at work. While you have Siona on the line this morning, will you ask about the Question? I may not have time to answer but habits are hard to change. LOL. Have a great day! You need to check out ~KES post, it rocks!
Sandi - I will definitely ask the question about the question. And will head over to ~KES's post now. Have yourself a GREAT day!
