If you were a judge, what sort would you be?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 03, 2009:
I would be a judge in a bake-off contest. To ensure a sound decision, I would taste-test entries several times. [Yes, I'm the kind of gal who would gladly sacrifice myself that way]. And the winner is ... Tunnel of Fudge cake!

Help

Now that's the type of judge I could be too! But then again, everyone might be winners. My waist would probably not win in this case.
You gals are so heartful, we need more women in government.
Can there be too much of Paradise? Can there be too much of chocolate cake? I went on a chocolate cake and ice cream diet in '07 to put on some weight before I went to the beach and found that I had a dependency problem afterwards. I still struggle between Swiss Cake Rolls and good, common sense. But, hey, who am I to Judge?
Satya-Seer, Blewbird and Sandi -
Thank you for the visit; I enjoyed sharing my cake with you this morning. In posting that photo I actually switched from my morning cuppa tea to coffee. It seemed a little more decadent; more in keeping with Tunnel Fudge cake!
Shortly I will waddle off to work …
Thank you for making me smile with all your comments :)
Have a nice day all
love,
db
Thanks for the great fun Laurie. I was just about to take life incredibly serious… not that chocolate cake isn't serious… but your post is a gentle reminder to me that we are making judgments all the time… and that is a (or can be) a good thing.
Yummmmmmmy! gonna go bake me some brownies Right NOW!
What a good thing to pick –and I suppose they might need a PANEL OF JUDGES and I could join you on the panel…..right?
Terrill & Mimi -
I'm so glad you ladies enjoyed a nice slice of chocolate flavored humor this morning. Typically I serve tea, but today it's coffee. Please pull up a chair and help yourselves to a cuppa java while your here.
And yes, food-tasting judges are always in huge demand.

If y'all haven't tried Mimi's recipe for brownies, let me tell you, they are the bomb! Mimi, could you repost that recipe here?
Back by popular demand……..
Everyone should try these Brownies at least once in their lifetime. .
Best Brownies
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts(
CREAMY BROWNIE FROSTING(recipe follows)
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 8 or 9-inch square baking pan.
2. Stir together melted butter, sugar and vanilla in bowl. Add eggs; beat well with spoon. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; gradually add to egg mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in nuts, if desired. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Don't overbake. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
Prepare CREAMY BROWNIE FROSTING; spread over brownies. Cut into squares. About 16 brownies.
CREAMY BROWNIE FROSTING (the best ever)
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
3 tablespoons HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1 tablespoon light corn syrup or honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered/icing sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons milk
Beat butter, cocoa, corn syrup and vanilla in small bowl until blended. Add powdered sugar and milk; beat to spreading consistency. About 1 cup frosting. Spread on cooled brownies, making swirling pattern with tip of knife.
And here's the picture that I took of me holding the brownies after I made this recipe. They are DE-lick-cious … and then some!
Oh my gosh! THANK YOU!
I can see that I'm going to get myself in a world of calorie sin (massive indulgence) this holiday weekend.
John - great photo showing you with one wicked pan of brownies!
Double batch! If a little is good, then a lot is better! Wicked-good brownies. Would that I lived near you gals or better yet, we could all live in the same neighborhood!
Good thing we don't or we'd all be fat and sassy, waddling around due to wicked-good recipe exchanges, my friend!
Laurie … a ten foot pole wasn't nearly long enough to keep me away from answering this Q&R question. All sorts of bells and alarms started clanging away the minute I read this question the other day. I kept meaning to come back to it to see how others had tackled this seemingly difficult question.
How refreshing to see your response! Loved it! Here I was bracing myself for a heavy dose of sage wisdom, and instead I bumped straight into a smile fest, complete with gooey chocolate decadence in abundance!
Let this be a lesson to me. Sometimes the heaviest of subjects deserve to be tilted on their head and made to induce irrepresible smiles. Well done!
(I was talking about the blog post, not the Tunnel of Fudge cake, although both are quite tasty. In fact, delicious).
Oh Nancy - I'm so glad that you found something f-u-n! I love to laugh. I absolutely love to laugh!
Listen with your heart!
Some of these questions get me scratching my head. But I know not to take them too seriously or try to make up some important sounding reply. Some questions I don't answer because I know nothing about the subject, meaning I have no personal real life experience to talk about, just opinions about the topic, blahblah blabblab. It is very refreshing to find some light-hearted posts like this one of Laurie's where we participate at all kinds of levels and have some fun. WhooHoo.
thanks again
So this is where the party is!! I am taking this Blog to another party in honor of Laurie and sharing pieces of chocolate cake on Gaia Networking …with tea! Anyone ready for seconds??? :-)
